I’m going to hire a carpet cleaner for a dirty rug. The fluid seems expensive. Can I use diluted persil?

I wouldn't use laundry liquid. If you have a Poundland/ H&M/ home bargains near you then they all sell the carpet shampoo for the carpet machines really cheaply (usually £1)

Thanks for the tip

I get carpet cleaning fluid from Home Bargains for 79p ish, I get about 5 at a time. I’ve also used Bond 2in1 laundry gel a few times and it does the job x

I would hire a professional. Would cost a bit more but the results are far, far better

I've used Rug Doctor cleaners with Persil Small and Mighty. You don't need much, it's cheap compared with the detergents they try to sell you and it's perfect because 1. it doesn't foam; 2. it contains enzymes which help to get a good result; and 3. it works at low temperatures.

Washing liquid will leave a dull residue. Head to Home Bargains.
