Smelly crockery

Noticed that my crockery and cutlery has a faintly unpleasant smell when it comes out of the dishwasher. Hard to describe but vaguely metallic. I’m using Vanish tabs and rinse aid and it’s a brand new dishwasher so nothing horrible lurking in the actual machine. I’m becoming obsessed with sniffing my plates and forks. 😄. Any ideas please?

Can you run a dishwasher cleaner through it?

I wouldn’t have thought a brand new machine needed cleaning, would it?

Might be because it's new then. It'll probably dissipate over a number of washes.

I've always thought dishwashers left the crockery smelling like wet dogs and I've had a few. I don't know the solution though.

Clean the filter and machine. I've never had a dishwasher leave crockery smelly.
