Soda crystals

I've bought some soda crystals to try them out on some stained children's clothes (too long meldewy at bottom of laundry basket - oops!)

Hit me up with what else I can use them for.

Am already using zoflora to make kitchen spray and clean various other areas (eg floors). I'd like to have a few basic products that cover all my cleaning and laundry etc. Cuts down on cost, plastic bottles and horrible cluttered under-the-sink cupboard.

I put some in every wash to reduce amount of detergent needed. Cupful down plug hole followed by boiling water.

Thanks @chocolatespiders
Off to chuck some down the plug holes now!

Sounds a good idea. How much do you use?
I clean out our washing machine with a cup of soda crystals mixed in with white vinegar and topped up with about a pint of water. I stick it in the drum and run a 60 degree cycle. A repair man told me this and to repeat the process x3 but i only do it once and try to remember to do it once a month.

I did the soda crystals down the plug holes just yesterday! Since we had a major blockage of soapy crud in the pipes of our old house from the bathroom sink to the bath, DH uses a bowl to shave and never runs the bits down the sink any more! We do the crystals once a month.

I just pour it straight from the bag, probably about between a quarter to half a cup amount. I read it softens the water to prevent build up of limescale.

Interesting I also use soda crystals in the wash but much less! More like a couple of teaspoons.

Wonder if I’m not doing enough...

A quick google suggests one tablespoon - I need to cut down!

It's great for degreasing the tops of kitchen cupboards.

I make washing powder by mixing soda crystals and borax with grated soap. Still use Ariel for whites with a scoop (old coffee scoop) of soda crystals, and half a scoop of Napisan when needed.

@chocolatespiders..thanks for the advice. I never knew soda crystals were so versatile!
