How often do you wash you floors with a baby?

Hi mamas, I have a 5 month old and normally I wash our floors once a week and Hoover every day, but she’s not crawling yet and never on the ground really. I’m just wondering, when she does start to crawl, for those of your hat have toddlers, how often do you all mop your floors?
I have two house cats as well.

Thanks for your advice Smile

Lol the title of your post had me thinking of the sleepsuits with added microfiber tassles for the baby to mop as they crawled 😂
Sorry no advice really but when DD was small I'd Hoover every day carpet and hard floors then use a floor steamer every 3 days. Small marks I'd clean by hand.

Like this!! Grin

I was going to say I prefer to use a mop, but MissPolly beat me to it!

Yup, great thread title!

Hardly ever.
You can slide a plump baby back and forth to shine up some floor polish.
But washing with them, that's a tad harsh.
A pre-dampened Labrador puppy, they're good to wash with.

Hahahah!! Amazing. Now it’s highly apparent to me that my english is getting worse living overseas (facepalm)

Like how we all thought the same thing!

Another one whose first thought was that I've never washed my floors with a baby.

It took me right back to my eleven plus days. When I had to 're phrase sentences like " I need a comb for a child with metal teeth" and "I need my hair cutting, badly" .

Thanks OP. You took me back 60 years. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice, for your perfectly sensible question.

BiscuitDrama · 07/07/2019 19:07

Didn’t have time to wash them very often at all IIRC. They were just grubby though, not covered in mud (we take shoes off) or raw chicken.

OhTheRoses · 07/07/2019 19:08

Ha ha, my thoughts too. When mine were babies, never. Cleaner did it once a week. Odd sweep inbetween and obvs spills were wiped up. Shoes left at door so floors didn't get particularly dirty.

Leggyfrog · 07/07/2019 19:11

My cleaner did once a month - but we are a no shoes in the house family and vacuumed the wooden floors in between.

BikeRunSki · 07/07/2019 19:13

I don't think my babies ever helped me to wash the floors!

Fatted · 07/07/2019 19:17

Hard floors got mopped once a week and I hoovered downstairs every day. Upstairs was and still is a couple of times a week. I don't have any pets. I wouldn't like the idea of my kids rolling around in animal hair.

Mammalian · 07/07/2019 19:22

Ha...I didn't think that at all, but just re-read the title and had a giggle.
Anyway, mine is one year old, so has been on the floor about 6 months now, and I Hoover every day, and wash once a week (basically what you're doing nowGrin)
I do also try and keep shoes and the buggy in a room at front of house which she doesn't go into because both could go through dirt/dog poo without realising

Redglitter · 07/07/2019 21:45

Best thread title ever 😂

TheClitterati · 08/07/2019 16:58

I do miss the baby stages - my children (8 & 11) are utterly useless to wash the floors with. Grin

MikeUniformMike · 08/07/2019 18:54

I came here to say you might find a mop more effective.
I have considered wrapping the cat's tail with a duster.

Shootingstar1115 · 12/07/2019 10:59

I have always cleaned my kitchen floor most days (steam mop). I do have OCD though. When DD started crawling would do it religiously every day. I do have a dog who runs in and out the garden though and a messy 8 year old.

I would say at least every other day when she starts crawling.

DelurkingAJ · 12/07/2019 18:55

Weekly here apart from spills. Hard floors. We have cats and shoes indoors but it was never a problem. Wait until they crawl into the garden and the first thing they do is eat a handful of soil from the nearest flower bed (or a friend of mine...a slug).

LoafofSellotape · 13/07/2019 08:32

Every other day when crawling. Have you got a spray mop? Makes it quick and easy.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/07/2019 14:52

I’m spray mopping daily now, if you use de-ionised or de-mineralised water it dries streak free.

We don’t have kids but dh and the cat are muck magnets.
