Oven door won't clean?

BreakfastAtLitanies · 28/06/2019 14:46

Hello!

I'm leaving rented student accommodation and the housemates I lived with left all the deep cleaning to me. The oven is awful - I've managed to clean inside the oven nicely but the glass door just isn't cleaning? I've tried normal cleaners and bicarbonate but nothing is making it budge and I'm running out of time!!

Any advice?

By normal cleaners I mean oven cleaners

The Pink Stuff worked really well on mine and nothing else was budging it

FrogFairy · 28/06/2019 14:49

A blade scraper should shift the worst of it, then I agree Pink Stuff or Astonish paste.

BreakfastAtLitanies · 28/06/2019 15:20

Right, off to get me some pink stuff! Thank you both!

If pink stuff fails, I usually use a brillo pad. Although you do need to go easy so it doesn't scratch the glass.

FaithInfinity · 28/06/2019 16:06

You can usually remove the glass - I found out how to do mine via google. Then rub a damp dishwasher tablet over the glass, it’ll clean up brilliantly!

Brillo pad damp with neat fairy liquid always cleans my oven glass really well.

I read on a similar thread that wiping a damp dishwasher tablet is very effective and I tried it on the oven door when my DC moved out of their rented flat. It worked really well, so might be worth a e.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 28/06/2019 22:36

*try. Not a e. Don't know where that came from.

SpoonBlender · 28/06/2019 22:54

Your flatmates left you to it? I hope you're billing them for it.

Alabasterangel6 · 28/06/2019 22:57

As above. Get a wet dishwasher tablet and mush it slightly into a sponge. Rub that over the glass it’ll clean like new.

BreakfastAtLitanies · 02/07/2019 10:11

@SpoonBlender sorry only just saw this.

I was tempted to, honestly. I was left with every cleaning job except their bedrooms and bathrooms, didn't even bother looking in those: can't afford to have my deposit taken but also felt very unfair being the one to do all the cleaning!

Yeah, I did the same in my 2nd year. And I've never shared a house with anyone like that since. Arseholes.

CharlieBoo · 06/07/2019 05:20

You need elbow grease... honestly it’s unbelievable ... you can get it in b and m, savers, home bargains.. it’s onlh 99p but I cleaned my whole oven with it.. x

Kyriesmum1 · 09/07/2019 16:15

Rub a dishwasher tablet over it xx

Rachelover40 · 09/07/2019 16:18

Don't worry about it. Eventually the oven will pack up and be replaced. Maybe not in your time though :-).

When used, ovens are hot and kill germs. I doubt if whatever is on the oven door will cause you any problems.

Life is too short to stress about such things. Cleaning ovens is a dire chore.
