Ours is rubbish, and I'd like a really good one that's going to last ages.
Any tips?
Sorry if this gets asked lots. I'd be really grateful for your answers.

get a steam generator one - it'll halve your ironing time. Tefal are a good brand, mine is still going strong after 7 years of use.

I have a Phillips Azur Precision 4310 and fab it is too!

I'm very pleased with my Tefal Program 8 400 or something like that!

yes, that's one - I have the grandma of that iron and it still does a fine job.

The main difference between different steam generators is whether they have a second smaller tank if you want to heat up water quickly - mine doesn't and takes 8-10 minutes if the tank is full (which isn't a problem as I usually iron when the basket is overflowing).

One of the reviews of these types of irons is that you need a really big iron rest - is this true? will I have to buy a new ironing board?

geekgirl · 26/07/2007 14:28

well, I usually iron next to the windowsill so my the steam generator part sits on there, or if watching telly I'll put it on the coffee table.
The steam hose connecting the steam tank to the iron is v. long, you don't need the generator to sit on the iron rest attached to your board.

tracyk · 26/07/2007 15:10

oh thats ok then.

hecciesmum · 27/07/2007 13:51

Beenleigh....I HAVE that very iron and bought it a few months ago when my previous Philips Azure blew up. IT IS BRILLIANT!! It has halved the time I spend ironing and makes such a good job - wouldn't be without it now!

Tefal steam generator. Only ever have to iron one side of anything, including duvets. I love mine {blush}
