Dishwasher error whilst washing machine running. Help!

Our washing machine and dishwasher use the same waste, though they are in different rooms.

Tonight, whilst the washing machine was draining, the dishwasher (which wasn't on or running) suddenly displayed an E15 error. Thanks to Google I have established that this is likely to do with water having collected somewhere in the machine and tilting it caused some water to run out and the error code disappeared. So far so good. I have since tried to run it (empty), and it is still not pulling water in from the mains.

I have googled and I cannot find any reason why the washing machine running would cause this error. My thought was the waste, so before tilting and trying again I put unblocker down the waste pipe, but that clearly didn't help.

Before I start pulling the machine apart with the help of the wonderful source that is YouTube, does anyone with plumbing knowledge have any suggestions of what to look for first? I'd go for the float, but if the waste is a concern then that would have to be my first port of call.

In case this is relevant: the machines are roughly 7 metres apart, with the dishwasher being nearest the waste pipe outside. No errors appear on the washing machine.
