How do I clean this?!

So I'm usually ok with 'house' stuff but I need help... our sofa arms are made from something that isn't leather and isn't suede. I thought maybe nubuck but google suggests not.

There are water marks all over one of the arms (thanks DC...) and I have no idea how to get them out without making it worse. I've attached a picture of the arm hoping somebody can shed some light for me.

Thank you!!!

That happened to ours. I ran out steam cleaner over it and then sort of buffed the marks out with a cloth. I’m not recommending this though, I know nothing about the material or cleaning it, I just tried my luck!

I read on another thread recently that the piece of fabric under your sofa cushion is for testing cleaning products-who knew? Don’t suppose yours has a swatch of the fabric on the arms??

@moreismore no, it only has a swatch of the main sofa material :( although I'll have to remember that in future Grin

@CarrieBlu did they come out?

Yes the marks came out! I ran the steam cleaner over it slowly in straight lines and then used a micro fibre cloth to rub over it to buff out the line marks. It doesn’t really make sense to get rid of water marks by using water but it worked for me! Don’t take my word for it though, I only tried it as a last resort as I didn’t really care much about the sofa!!
