Freshest smelling washing machine detergent and softener combination? Bored of fairy.

Ooh! Following this with interest. Although, like a bit of a wanker, I've just started putting a few drops of essential oils in my softener drawer and can report it is LIFE CHANGING.

Which essential oils have been successful? And is this as well as softened?

Wallymum - I don't think you can beat air drying. I often mix my powder with soda crystals to reduce the perfume smell (and make it go further) and then dry outside.

That said, I am going to try the oil thing.

Air drying is amazing but this weather is just not conducive to it at the moment. My washing just felt and smelt awful.
