Recommend me a steam cleaner!

Looking for a steam cleaner primarily for my kitchen floor but would like multi function so I can do the carpet and other places like oven, bathroom etc. What do you recommend?

I have given up in my quest for this type of cleaner. Have had two different 'multi surface' ones, both well known brands and although they were adequate, neither of them were long lasting. I've now decided to get a proper carpet cleaner and a separate steam cleaner for the couple of hard floors we have.

Oh no! Which ones did you have? Did they just not work well or did they actually break?

We have a vax. So far only used it on floors so can't help with the multi use question

However. The cord only stretches across a small room. If buying again I would look for the longest cord possible.

Got it from Amazon. It looks like an apple product, sleek and practical.

Most recent was an h2o, can't remember the brand I had before, but it was a well known one. They both stopped working. I always followed the care instructions regarding descaling etc. I have since searched for a decent steam cleaner that will tackle carpets ET as well, but haven't been able to find one. Oops, posted too soon. I think two machines will be better - I know a couple of people with carpet cleaners which do a great job and have lasted well.

I'm going for the Vax Steam Combi. It's got good reviews so fingers crossed!
