Build up of ice in Fridge

Hi, don't often come here because I fail at housekeeping. My current state is that last week I was crying because I couldn't work out how to get my slippers on (sadly, not exaggeration).

My fridgemaster frost free fridge has a massive build up of ice at the back. I finally got around to clearing out the old stuff (house full of fussy eaters, lots wasted) and I couldn't get some stuff out of the back because the ice had formed around it.

Apart from upping my cleaning game, what can I do?

Any help appreciated. And if anyone knows what the numbers on the dial mean, I'd be grateful.

The numbers are the coldness measure, so best to set it in about the middle and adjust as required - you may have it set too cold.
Also water drops need to be able to freely run down the cold back wall, if they can't they will frost up.
Two things that I find stop the water drops are if food/packaging is touching the back wall, or if the little drain toward the bottom of the back wall is blocked.

I'd suggest you take out all the food, put it in cool boxes or bags (or just in the garden if it's chilly where you are today!) Turn the fridge off at the wall and leave it with the door open to warm up a defrost.

When that's done (few hours) you can turn it back on and put your food back in. Going forward make sure your food/packaging is not touching the back wall.

@Icedlatte Thank you - that's probably the problem. I've had so much stuff shoved to the back. Really appreciate the help.

No problem, I've made the same mistake many times and found my strawberries iced to the back wall and puddles of water in my mushrooms!

I managed to pry out a moribund packet of ham and left a shelf of ice. It's a wake up call! Thank you for helping me with this!
