Our Dyson Animal cylinder vacuum has just died an unexpected death.
I have 5 cats so need a new vacuum cleaner within a few days.
What would you recommend?

5 cats.
2 children who vacuum their own rooms so needs to be light.
Quite fancy a cordless so can vacuum the car.
Car gets very muddy inside due to kids hobby.
Wooden floors downstairs.
Carpet on stairs and upstairs.

Many thanks!

Henry. I have had Dysons forever.

Bought the cordless V10 last year at a cost of £400. It is useless, the filter needs washing almost after every use (9 times out of ten).

It is truly useless.

I bought a Henry, just the £130 one here. It is amazing, I can’t believe I haven’t bought one before.

Get a shark! Best vacuum I've ever had

In terms of pet hair, I am dealing with this after grooming plus endless balls of tumbleweed twice a week minimum (one yellow Labrador).

Recommend me a vacuum cleaner, please!

Like @boxlikeamarchhare I recommend a Henry. Bloody brilliant! We moved into a fantastically filthy do-er upper and went through 3 hoovers in quick succession. We noticed that the trades use a Henry, bought one and have been fighting - and winning - our war on filth and dogs hair ever since.

As an aside, I saw a guy brushing his yellow lab out on a dog walk yesterday and thought what a fantastic idea. Couldn't believe the amount of hair though!!

Also, just to add my 11 and 5 year old hoovered the car yesterday with the Henry. They did all their own lifting and vacuuming so it's light enough to encourage some child labour Grin

Cordless Henry is far better than cordless Dyson surprisingly

boxlikeamarchhare · 16/06/2019 08:48

MrsBob, I wondered how I had got to 50 and not bought a Henry!

So cheap and probably the best vacuum I have owned. I recommend one with the pro kit (which was included with the one I bought) which includes a set of attachments with brushes that go round (like on a Dyson).

Yes re Labradors, I know Labradoodles get a lot of flack on here but I can see the attraction, even half the hair would be a big plus.
