Best way to deal with slippery slimy decking?

Hi,
Yesterday's downpour has made our decking very slippery and it has a slimy film on the surface I think, hence the reason I skidded.. Don't want any serious accidents happening so what would you suggest?

I'm thinking hot water, fairy liquid and a hard bristle broom to give it all a scrub but my partner says that'll make it even more slippery

Thank you

Is it greenish ? If so you have a problem with something growing. I would try a dilute bleach solution and stiff broom. But be careful where it spills off the deck as it might kill any plants around, hopefully you have a gravel path you can sweep it towards where you can pour loads of plain water onto to dilute it out and then it can just soak away safely

When we had a deck ( for 10 years) we pressure washed it once a year and applied a non slip coating. It was the only way to ensure the verdigris didn’t return.

Thank you both, good suggestions :)

Pressure wash it and then paint it with a non slip paint,it has a slight grit in it which gives it grip.
