Broken dishwasher - repair or replace??

Our Bosch dishwasher has broken - sure it's the heating element. Do I pay £150 to get it repaired (local engineer plus parts - £200 if bosh do it!) or just get a new one?? Seems such a waste to replace but nearly the same cost as a new one!!

New! Something else will go shortly, cut your losses!

I had the same issue and replaced my Bosch machine. I find they generally last about 8 yrs, so if it's anything over 4 or 5 yrs old I would say it is uneconomic to repair.

Our bosch dishwasher needed fixing in Jan. Decided to get it repaired by a localish company which seemed to be a professional outfit with over 30yrs experience with bosch and other brands. Repair completed for a reasonable cost and guaranteed for a year. All good.

5 days later an error code came on. Got the company back again. Turned out he hadn't connected everything tightly and there was a leak inside which had dripped onto the electric control board. They admitted their error and said they would fix free of charge. Just needed to get the part ordered.
Well... 8 weeks later still no repair and a half dismantled dishwasher in the kitchen unusable. Company not returning my calls or emails. So had to recover the cost of the initial repair through my credit card charge back. A complete nightmare.
Obviously going via a bosch engineer would have more of a guarantee but this really was an awful experience and would make me think twice about getting appliances repaired.
Ended up getting a replacement bosch on a promotion from John Lewis with a cashback offer too. But the 3 months without a dishwasher was a real pain in the arse.

Go on Facebook and get a replacement. My Bosch dishwasher died (or rather, a mouse killed it - wire chewing) and I picked up another Bosch dishwasher for £60 on FB.

New on ordered - arriving Thursday! Decided to bite the bullet and found one with a five year warranty so fingers crossed!!
