Bleach stained Balenciagas

I have tried to clean my daughter’s (very expensive) Balenciagas by using diluted laundry bleach. All looked good last night and I left them to dry overnight but this morning they have completely discoloured & gone a yellowy colour with some grey/ black patches where some colour has run. Has anyone else done this and managed to repair the damage? I feel terrible as they were a gift from her boyfriend. She’s in tears, I feel like crying too 😞

Only option is to go to a cobbler’s.

Thanks for the replies. I contacted The Shoe Spa online who refurbish trainers etc. They advised dyeing the front part grey or black and said they couldn’t dye them white. The shoes are white with a black elastic strap across them, not sure how they would look if grey or black at the front and white at the back?
Will leave well alone in the future 😕

You'll have to replace them then won't you?

BikeRunSki · 01/06/2019 15:35

In my experience of clothes, you can’t dye over bleach I am afraid.

BayandBlonde · 01/06/2019 15:41

I wouldn't have gone anywhere near a £500 odd pair of trainers with anything other than a damp cloth.

Sorry I know that doesn't help but bleach is just bonkers.

You could contact Balenciaga and see what they suggest?

Greyhound22 · 01/06/2019 15:45

Why would you put bleach on them? Enough that they need to dry cries

I think you need to replace them.....

Janet07 · 01/06/2019 15:51

They needed to dry as I rinsed the bleach off not because I soaked them in bleach 🤣
Obviously I will replace them if I need to but thought I’d check for any ideas on how to restore them first!

I think they're officially deceased OP sorry.

I'm horrified but I'm sure I've probably done similar. Just not to someone elses £500 trainers 😂

These ones? Is it the leather or fabric bit? If you are dying get it done professionally as dying fabric and leather will be very different.

What age is your daughter, was she aware you were trying bleach?

Either way leave her to clean her own ridiculously priced shoes in future.
