Washing machine not pumping in water

I have just come back from being away for 5 days. Before I left I turned off the water for the washing machine. Today, I have come back and switched the valve back on and the washing machine won't pump in any water. What has happened???

Maybe it has tripped the electrics. Try turning the circuit on and off again at the fuse box.
