Hi all,
I really need a reliable washing machine that'll last over 5 years. Any recommendations? I heard Miele is really good.

Thanks

Do not get a candy whatever you do. Can't say what you should get but I had a hotpoint washer dryer last 5 or 6 years

stucknoue · 30/05/2019 19:55

Most last about 5 years, it comes down to price though

I've had my Siemens for 13 years now, no problems.
Last 2 - hotpoint - lasted about 8 years each

Bosch. As good as Miele but cheaper.

I had a hoover dynamic wizard it was Bloody nightmare , it had a touch display that they claim Was light sensors , it would swap cycles in the middle Choose it's own cycle regardless , turn on and off this happened over a period of 12 months , started once or twice them become so regular that after replace every part they exchanged it .
I now have hoover axi ( I think it's called) it's a lot better only thing bugs me is , it decides how much softener to use, has a slow release , I probably use too much normally but now you just can't .

I am considering the AEG 9000 series L9FEC966R -one to replace my old LG one which lasted 8 years. AEG has a Water-Softner feature. Has anybody got this Washing Machine and would recommend it?

Does the Siemens come with water softener - where you add Salt like in a dishwasher- apparently clothes come out softer

Yellowbutterfly1 · 12/06/2019 09:15

I’ve had a Siemens for the last 14 years and it has been brilliant, however I’m not sure I’d automatically get another when the time comes because I don’t think any make is made to last very long nowadays.
I’ve know people rave about how their Hotpoint (or whatever make) lasted 20 odd years so got another only to find the build quality has totally changed and only lasted a couple of years.

We bought an indesit a decade ago because it was the cheapest one out there and we were skint and it just keeps going. I have repaired it a couple of times myself watching YouTube videos (eg it wasn't draining once so figured out how to clear the filter, that kind of thing). I think it's so basic that there isn't much to go wrong!!

Xiaoxiong · 12/06/2019 09:20

But yes yellowbutterfly is right, I don't think that 10 years ago indesit or miele or bosch is necessarily the same as today - I'd probably just get the cheapest and most efficient washer from John Lewis that has a good guarantee and assume I'd get 5-7 years out of it, anything beyond that is a bonus!

Thank you all. Decided to go for the AEG with water softener option.

Zanussi. My last one lasted 20 years. My current one is about 4 years old and no problems so far.

beanaseireann · 13/06/2019 16:38

Bosch- 17 years and still going

LG - still good after 15 years

Topseyt · 13/06/2019 16:43

Bosch for me. My last one lasted 15 years.

I also have Bosch for the dishwasher and tumble dryer. Both are now 10 years old and still going.
