What house work will I have forgotten about? Anything that you wished you had done in the house before you brought the baby home? Any advice or experience would be great! Thank you

Oh gosh, nothing. Just out your feet up! If you really must do something, batch cook!

TinselTimes · 16/05/2019 10:41

Prep lots of meals and snacks and put them in the freezer.

If you plan to bottle feed, set up a sterilising and bottle warming area.

Childproof the cupboards, install stair gates etc so you don’t need to panic to do it when the baby starts crawling.

Make sure anybody who’ll be helping you knows where everything is kept - we put stickers on the drawers so that my mum, DH, my friends could find the nappies etc.

Time/energy dependent I would
make sure washing is as up to date as can be
Dishwasher is empty
Hoover through
Clean bed sheets
maybe cook a few meals to freeze or make sure you've plenty of shopping in.
General tidy/clutter - once baby arrives its a clutter explosion!

If everything is ran, I'd just focus on making sure everything is organised. All baby others washed and folded and put away, imagine going in to change or dress baby, are things in easy to grab places, is it all intuitive? Is it all safe so no blind cords near the changing table etc.
Good luck

I'd just make sure I had everything tidy, admin jobs up to date, well stocked up on shopping, online supermarket shopping set up. Clear cupboards and drawers to make space for baby clothes and bits, its surprising how the stuff mounts up.

Make sure you have enough clothes washing stuff. You'll be amazed how much washing you get through in he first week (it calms down though!)

Chsnging mat downstairs with wipes and nappies and spare clothes on a basket
Buy a travel mug
Muslin cloths are a godsend especially the big thicker ones for a light extra layer when snuggling or to lie baby on.

Sleep
Yes to some meals cooked and bunged in the freezer

Pile of dark towels in your bathroom, plus basket of maternity pads, spare knickers etc.

You will get gifts and cards for which you need to give thanks. A pad or two or pretty note paper is a useful thing, I found.

We waited a couple of weeks by which time we had managed a gorgeous photo of dd which we popped in, too.

Find the documents you need to register the baby. Nothing like a hunt for your birth cert with a new born!

Do you have a tax return to do? Get it out of the way if so!
