Glass cleaner for everything?

My cleaning lady insists on using glass cleaner for everything (except unvarnished wood). Does anyone else do this? Strikes me as odd and maybe detrimental to surfaces, eg drying out painted wood? Does anyone know? Thank you.

It depends on the ingredients. If she's using white vinegar spray, fine, but otherwise no. Some chemicals will damage plastics and finishes.
If you are paying her to clean, can you not suggest she uses a suitable product?

Thankyou. I just needed someone to confirm it, that its not suitable for everything, eg painted ikea furniture. Shes really bolshy and promised me it is totally fine, and made a hige fuss when i told her not to use it. Possibly not the best long term situation. She also pours bleach on the hinges of the loo and is makig them rusty and blaming my messiness for it. I am very polite and bookish and quiet - but not scared, i do insist on change, and she is super loud. I am annoyed at her.
Thank you for helping me realise this.

She also had a rant at me for being a scaredy cat. Which is not acceptable.

Time for a new cleaner

FleurNancy · 16/05/2019 12:05

You don't need her in your home. Get rid and find someone less bloody rude!!

A good cleaner will use what you ask them too in your house, unless they know it would damage something.

I need somehelp in the house as i am rubbish and busy with my baby. She told me i was a scaredy cat and iving in fear because I was afraid that the glass cleaner would ruin my kallax. And because i keep checking that my baby isnt bumping her head - we have old furniture and she isnjust learning to crawl. She made me feel really crap for a few days. But im not depressed, i am just tired and stressed but fine. She also hugs me and says inam her friend and is just a slightly crazy person and otherwise very friendly. But insists yhat she knows best. But she has rusted my loo hinges and she tips bleach over them and doesnt wipe it off.

She is not a good match for you. Find a different cleaner.

Ditch immediately! Sounds like interference and judgement you can do without.

Jarstastic · 02/06/2019 21:49

Is she insistent on which product it is?

If not what about Method spray cleaner? The lavender one has glass as one of things it can be used for, but is safe for use on wood etc

Oh dear, I have a lovely cleaner but it's horrible when you don't have a good fit. Can you ask around locally for recommendations?
