American fridge freezers

Hi I need more fridge space and more freezer space. Currently I’ve got an old fridge-freezer and thought I would get one of those big ‘American style fridge-freezers’ but when I look at the measurements on the freezer side they are pretty small boxes. In all brands. Lots of storage boxes/trays, granted, but t looks like you wouldn’t be able to freeze pizzas easily or big family dishes you’d cooked? Anyone else feel/experienced this? Anyone got a good recommendation for a spacious fridge freezer with bigger trays than the US style ones? Thanks so much .

How much room have you got to house it? You're not going to get any benefit from US style if you've only a 600mm slot to put it in.

Samsung for one do top and bottom style American fridge freezers, so you get the full width for your drawers. We love ours.

I've got a Samsung one. It's not as big as it looks. Pizzas are an issue. I'm lucky that I have a chest freezer as well.

I wouldn't buy one again despite the fridge keeping salads, veg etc fresh for ages

I have a samsung one with French doors. A normal sized pizza fits.

We’ve got no problem with pizzas at all. Is your Samsung the freezer on the bottom model?

I have a Hisense with French doors on the top for the fridge and a wide freezer drawer at the bottom. LOADS of space and we love it. We have a chest freezer too but that’s usually for the half cow/pig etc that’s usually kicking about 🙈

I'm buying separate fridge and freezer for this very reason! Tall, side-by-side and each is 600mm wide.

I agree with Sally above. The freezer is too small and awkward. I want one of the double door ones with freezer drawers below. I think they'd be better laid out.

The freezer part is narrower than you'd expect. When my Maytag died I bought a tall larder fridge and a matching tall freezer, standing side by side. Each is 60cm wide and it's amazing how much they hold.
I do miss the ice dispenser my Maytag had though.

French is the way to go, rather than American.

my American fridge freezer is massive. Freezer capacity is huge pizzas or big dishes absolutely fine.

My fridge is big but my freezer is no bigger than my old one and not as wide, ice maker takes up a lot of space too, it's fine for us but if I lived rurally I would want a second freezer

Yep, ours is the same design as Pascha’s link. The freezer capacity is astonishing.

Ours is LG, I think they vary wildly for capacity. Ours is great.
