Bloody tea towels!

They're everywhere, hanging everywhere! All over the chairs in the kitchen, all over the benches. Where do you put yours? How often do you rotate them? I need some tea towel storage solutions and know that this board will have them! Thanks in advance :-)

Mine are folded on a shelf on a cupboard, I have one out at a time occasionally two and that hangs on the radiator and is changed every couple of days or so (use dishwasher mostly)

NannyR · 07/05/2019 10:02

I keep them in a drawer, take one out, use it to dry up then put it in the washing machine, I might hang it on a door handle and reuse if it's only lightly used.

Tootyfilou · 07/05/2019 10:02

I have a deep draw, I find great joy in my enormous pile of neatly folded tea towels.
I use them for lots of things... rarely drying dishes as we have a dishwasher. Rotate very frequently. Can you get some stick on hooks and hang them on there?

Tootyfilou · 07/05/2019 10:03

Drawer FFS!

rideawhiteswan · 07/05/2019 10:05

I have them folded on a cupboard shelf.
One on the go, use it to dry the washing up once a day then used for hands. When I get a clean one out to dry washing up it is the dirty clothes basket.

We have a rail over one of our under bench cupboard doors, holds oven glove and a teatowel. Spares are kept in a basket under the sink.

LoafofSellotape · 07/05/2019 10:17

I have loads, all clean and folded in a plastic storage box on the utility room. New one every day and at the end of the day goes in the wash, sometimes use two depending on what's going on in the kitchen.

LoafofSellotape · 07/05/2019 10:18

The one in use is hung on the rail of the oven.

drspouse · 07/05/2019 13:42

In a drawer until in use, then hanging on one of two hooks, then on the floor in front of the in the washing machine until a load goes on.

happyasasandboy · 07/05/2019 13:50

Folded in a drawer. One or two out for use (mainly hands as dishwasher does most of the washing up) and then sling them in to the kitchen laundry basket when it's too wet to dry on the oven door / been used a lot / been used to mop up a spill etc etc.

On a weekday when we're all out then two tea towels will probably be out for two days or so (unless they're used for a spill). At the weekend I might get through four in a day because there's more activity in the kitchen.

My tea towels / kitchen cloths / bathroom towels / bath mats all wait for the weekend and then go in the washing machine and tumble dryer together. It's the only load I tumble dry as life is too short to hang out that many cloths / towels!

washinglions · 07/05/2019 14:13

Yep - in a folded pile in a cupboard. Changed every day (sometimes more often if DH decides to wash mud of his hands at the kitchen sink and dries his hands on it) and the old one chucked on the floor in front of the washing machine.

washinglions · 07/05/2019 14:13

off

AlletrixLeStrange · 07/05/2019 14:15

I have the opposite issue, where are the million tea towels I've bought in the last few years?! I just have one sad tea towel in my drawer Sad

justasking111 · 07/05/2019 14:17

Folded in the drawer with the foil, bin liners, greaseproof paper.

Bringbackthestripes · 07/05/2019 14:27

They are kept in a drawer, the one we are using gets hung on the oven door handled. We have a new one every day but they aren’t used too much as we have a dishwasher.

Nightlights · 07/05/2019 15:06

Thanks everyone, I do have clean ones in a drawer but I don't put used ones back in there during the day. They kind of hang around until put in the wash pile. Those stick on things look like a goer!

I fold them and they are stored in a tub under the sink next to the folded hand towels.

Both the hand towel and tea towels are brought out fresh every morning and they are hung on hooks next to each other near the sink. At night the towels plus dishcloths used in the day (usually several) get put into a large tub in the utility where once a week the whole lot is washed on high heat with dettol anti-bac laundry stuff.

I find it oddly satisfying to fold towels and tea towels. Blush and I have favourites too.

Chilledout11 · 08/05/2019 17:33

I've a draw with clean ones.. then a rack that sits on the inside of the door of the cupboard under the kitchen sink so none are visible. Of one is damp I would put it on the radiator or tumble dry for a few moments

Debenhamshandtowel · 08/05/2019 17:37

Dirty ones go in a string bag that I hang on a hook outside the back door. Then I put them in the wash about once a week, bag and all.

Like that. Turtle Bags are sturdiest and last thorough washing and tumble drying but you can get cheaper.

Mumof1andacat · 08/05/2019 18:04

The one In use hangs on the oven handle. Clean ones in the airing cupboard.
