What's wrong with my washing machine?

Recently my washing machine has not stopped the "wash" part of the cycle. I have to change to a drain and spin cycle halfway through.

What is wrong with it?? Have tried switching on and off ans running a different programme to no avail

Something wrong with its internal computer, I think Confused. Sorry, I'm not technically minded, but I've had this and needed an engineer.

Have you emptied the little catch box??

Empty the little filter part at the bottom

Thanks all, my mum suggested it was the computer too... im moving soon so dont really want to buy anything new for my old place.

Going to get DH to help me with the filter tomorrow as we have to prop the machine up and twist super hard to get the flaming thing off. Last time when the.filter was blocked it just sat there not draining rather than a continual wash iyswim

Wish the filter wasnt such a pain to check!!

Thanks guys

Have you got heavy-when-wet stuff in there like towels or jeans? Or a duvet cover which has collected everything else into a giant ball? Sometimes mine will just refuse to spin, it does finish the wash programme and unlocks the door though, it's just everything is dripping wet. I can put it onto a manual spin cycle and it works, but it works better if I take half the contents out and spin them separately.

So to prevent it I'd try putting about 2/3 or 3/4 of the amount of stuff you currently put in there.

bertie i know what you mean as i have had that before but no nothing at all heavy and when it happened with towels it just stopped and beeped at me. This time i think it would wash forever if i didnt stop it

So i havent managed to get the filter off yet but have put it on a short low spin cycle and it's fine

Which leads me to think it is the computer after all :(

At the front (bottom corner) is there a little door or panel which I released with a knife. Take that off, there will be a knob thing that you undo and water will come out so put a bowl under it. Once you have drained the excess water from there it will work ok. It is not usually the computer but this. I had to do mine last week.
