How to rescue my dishes from my crap dishwasher?

Problem - new kitchen with built in Smeg dishwasher which has seriously underperformed so far so much that we have decided to get a new one, but today I opened the dishwasher to see everything including the inside of the dishwasher coated in a filmy smear.

Tried scrubbing it off - no luck.

Applied a bit of vinegar to one of the plates and left it for a bit, rinsed it off - film gone.

I have taken the load out and stuck it on again with a cleaner cartridge to clean the mchine, but how the heck do I sort my plates out? Vinegar? Extra salt ?

I am assuming this happened due to a problem with the salt but not 100% certain.

Thanks

are you using rinse aid?

Shoobiedoo · 17/07/2007 12:11

Yes, I had just filled it up before putting the load on.

I think this is because you need extra salt- my dishwasher did the same thing. IIRC, it's something to do with the energy efficiency of modern appliances. Try www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=244here for more information.
