Can I add a tiled roof to be lean to/garden room/conservatory

I have a long rectangle conservatory type room (bricked up half way then glazed the rest)

Anyone know if I can change its perspexy type roof for a proper tiled one and approximate costs?

Sorry for repeating versions of the same question! Still mulling over bedroom configuration for baby 3!

If the lean to is not currently classed as a permanent structure, adding a tiled roof may make it one ... in which case you might need planning permission.

[tiled conservatory]

You would have to consider the weight of the roof structure and tiles. The current conservatory may not withstand it especialy if the top half is glazed all the way round and there are no brick piers.

Your best bet would be to get a builder to have a look and advise you I think

I agree you should get a builder to look at it.Was it htere when you bought the house as you could probably get away without pp if it was always tiled iykwim. The only concern would be the weight.

Tutter I get you now!!

I have had a new idea!!

There is a product you can get to insulate/repel heat in conservatory roofs. Think I will get that treatment done and then put plaster board up and get ceiling plastered so its like a proper ceiling inside and more like a room (want to use it for DDs bedroom) and hopefully the treatment will sort out the overheating.

Therefore dont have to worry about planning permission

Thoughts?!

I added a tiled roof to my existing conservatory 'Garden room roof', the installers used the existing windows underneath. Now I have a proper room for my two children to play in. Found the installers via www.anewroom.co.uk
