The shiny stuff - steel? - round my fireplace is rusty.

I got a fireplace fitted a couple of years ago, with a living flame fire. But the surround is looking a bit rusty. I'm not sure what it's made of, so I don't know how to clean it. Any ideas?

zeebrite from the hardware shop or DIY tis a paste a bit like bootpolish, rub it in polish off. (only for black surrounds I think tho)

That probably wouldn't do then. Mine is a dull silver colour. Thanks, though.

Oh shame.
What about silvo? Actually I would ring the people you got it from and ask them.

That's a good idea. I'll do that. Thanks.

Try bicarb soda and vinegar. I just scrubbed off rust from my sink with this.

I've just seen this - thanks. I'l try a very small patch tomorrow.
