Are expensive dishwashers worth it?

I'm buying a dishwasher for the first time so it's all new to me. Prices range a lot! Definitely cannot afford the very high end but is it worth splashing out as much as possible i.e. is it false economy to get a cheaper one? Some of the cheaper ones have great reviews.

Bonus question: the counter under which the dishwasher will go is a little lower than usual. Does anyone know if the measurements of a dishwasher are with the legs at it's lowest or highest?

When I bought my first dishwasher, I had three children and baked a lot. It was a cheap and lasted almost a few years. Then, with a household of seven, a German made - AEG - that lasted 20+ years. Last year, I replaced it. We cook less now - four adults in the house. If it was just two of us, I might've gone for a cheaper option, but I've replaced like with like, albeit and end of range heavily discounted model.

I think it's worth spending more if it's going to be used a lot. Same with a washing machine.
