Time for a new hoover

Ours just seems to blow dust and cat hair around.
Cordless ones seem to be everywhere, but our house is short on sockets and storage, so not sure this would work for us.
I prefer uprights generally as my back is a bit dodgy.
Any recommendations?

I recently got a shark Hoover. It's a bloody dream to Hoover the house now!

SisterFarAway · 15/04/2019 15:43

I've bought a Miele Complete C3 last year and am very happy with it. Has a long cord, and if I plug it in at the right socket, I can do the whole flat (minus flatmate's room) without unplugging. It is a bit heavy, though.

hugoagogo · 15/04/2019 15:44

That's a cordless one I think? Can I ask how much does it need charging? We don't have anywhere we could really leave it charging for any length of time.
Also ds leaves it weeks before hoovering his room, so would a cordless one be powerful enough?

I have a shark too. Best vacuum I’ve ever had.

Another vote for Shark. Mine is a lift away which makes vacuuming stairs and hard to reach places a doddle - my only minor gripe is the cord is much shorter than the Dyson but I can live with that!

hugoagogo · 15/04/2019 18:55

The more I read online, the more I think cordless wouldn't work for me.
We really struggle for sockets as it is.

We have a Sebo upright vacuum cleaner and it is brilliant. The bags need replacing about once every three months. We have the X4 Pet version which has a boost button for deep cleaning. Best one we've ever had. The cord is long and the long hose attachment means I can clean the whole staircase with the vac on the ground floor.

We have quite a big house with large floor area so I don't think I'd get round everywhere without having to recharge a cordless one.

hugoagogo · 19/04/2019 14:19

I think the sebo would be out of my budget, though I am sure they are brilliant.

I have my eye on a meile here it would be my first ever bagged hoover.Shock

Are they really powerful? I miss my 2012 bissell which could tackle shagpile no bother

Walney · 19/04/2019 14:28

We have a dog that sheds a lot so can second the Miele complete cat and dog c3. It's not cordless but does have bags, I personally prefer bags as they are super easy to change and with my asthma it's great as all the dust is contained rather than dust clouds with bag less cylinders. I love it.

ViserionTheDragon · 19/04/2019 15:20

I have a Dyson V11 Absolute and it's brilliant - can't be without it now.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/04/2019 09:56

Miele cat and dog every time.

MrsCasares · 22/04/2019 20:34

Shark liftaway. Best hoover I’ve ever owned.

derekthe1adyhamster · 22/04/2019 20:37

I love my shark cordless. But you can get corded ones too. I'm not sure what the issue you have with sockets is? You can take the battery off and it just plugs into the charger do you don't have to have a socket next to the Hoover if that is your worry.
I love it.

candlefloozy · 22/04/2019 20:44

Got a shark lift away. I did quite a bit of research into this. Got a corded one because I like doing the whole house and the cordless batteries don't last long. If you go into curry's you can try out different ones so you can have a feel for which ones you like.
The lift away is fab! A massive dream after my dyson!

ChishandFips33 · 22/04/2019 23:19

Shark lift away duo here - I absolutely love hoovering since I got it!

It's like a transformer...
