Is my washing machine buggered?

It seems to have stopped draining the water at the end of the cycle - it doesn't get stuck mid-cycle or anything but when you open the door, the clothes are sitting in a little puddle.
Just when I get to the end of my tether and threaten to get a nice new one, it does one wash properly and then goes back to not working.
Help, anybody??

yep - get the filter checked.

Would that make it very occasionally work but mostly not?

well if there is something stuck that gets dislodged by the flow of water, but then gets stuck again.

Don't really know - I am not a plumber, hope you find the solution though...
