Recommendations for a Washer/Dryer

My washer/dryer is about to pack it in, an engineer will come out to check, but if it is irrepairable, the landlord will replace it so I'd like to give him some sensible suggestions.

What is important for me is that it has a quick wash cycle and the dryer can be operated separately, rather than having a wash followed straight by a drying cycle (iyswim).

Currently have a Hoover Nextra 6, which is at least seven years old, and probably never was the most efficient model.

If it was wholly up to me, I'd probably go for a Bosch, but I think he might want to go for something cheaper.

Thank you Smile

Siemens WD15G422GB. It is fantastic. I needed a model with a condenser dryer, not one where you need an outlet and there wasn’t a huge choice but delighted with this. The standard mixed fabric wash is about an hour. The delicates and wool wash are about 35 minutes. Two different drying settings which I always use separately in case there is a non tumbly thing in the wash that needs removing. The plumber who came to plumb it in (only needed because I did not realise how simple it was) thought it was great too.

nettie does the Siemens have an easily accessible fluff filter? I need something that can cope with washing dog beds and blankets. My old Hotpoint just leaves it all in the nooks and crannies of the machine ready to stick to the next wash.

Yes - it actually has a special fluff filter programme to clear it up! I have never used it as the fluff doesn’t seem to have built up. And two levels of dryness - cupboard dry and slightly damp for ironing. I used to have a Hotpoint and definitely prefer the Siemens.

Thanks nettie .

Thank you for the recommendation, unfortunately the landlord went for another Hoover model again, which should be delivered this week.

Now to the next task: How to get my flatmate to NOT use a quarter of a bottle of Comfort Intense conditioner with every wash...

I have a friend who doesn't use fabric conditioner at all and no tumble dryer. Her husband complained that the towels were very rough (they are) and she told him that they were much better than fluffy soft towels as they exfoliated his skin! Grin. Probably won't work with someone who is already over generous with fabric conditioner!
