Paint on child’s coat

Hoping somebody will have a tip, daughter’s coat covered in paint from nursery. Assumed it was a washable paint but didn’t come out in 40 degree wash, tried dr Beckmann’s stain remover for finger paints, washing up liquid, washing powder, even tried nail varnish remover from a google search. Went up to a 60 degree wash even though the label stated 40 degrees. Coat is looking really worn now on the velvet parts from being washed so many times so hoping not to wash it too many more times. Only bought the coat a few days a go after previous one being lost so really don’t want to buy another, particularly it being near the end of coat weather! It is 100% polyester coat. Thanks in advance!

I got some stains out recently with the spray on Vanish bottle, leaving it for much longer than the recommended time and reapplying every 5 mins until the stain was gone, try it on the lining first to make sure it doesn't take out the colour. My pink silk dress was fine!

Following with interest as I had a pair of brand new trousers that a child dropped a painted box down the back of my legs.

This is exactly why I buy dark coloured (navy) patterned coats for nursery and just basic leggings and tees from primark that get replaced every few months... drives me mental

Maybe Ace bleach for colours? That's got quite a few stains off in the past for me. You should be able to find it in Poundland.

Thanks all the replies, have been trying vanish with no success so far. Will buy ace tomorrow, giving up for tonight after washing machine been on since yesterday!

For future stains, I find that an overnight soak in cold water then treating the stain with Astonish soap bar or Ace bleach works well.

We’re not allowed to wear leggings.

userbubs · 23/03/2019 01:56

Bowerbird5 any reason? I haven't heard of that rule before, leggings seem so easy for a child

Thanks. We have a uniform for nursery so no leggings here either
