Quilt cover/sheet balling up in dryer. Arghhh!!

Anyone got any tips or advice how I can stop my quilt covers balling up in the dryer.
Only seems to happen with the king size, I button it up to try and avoid the pillowcases getting lost inside but I always seem to end up finding it balled up really tightly with a hot steaming bundle of wet material in the middle.
I only every put the bedding in on its own so it's usually 4 pillowcases, bottom sheet & quilt cover.
Doesnt ever seem to happen to the bottom sheet and is getting frustrating as I'd like to be able to pop it all in the dryer, go out/do what I need to do and just get it out good to go when the machine says it's done.
Any advice would be really appreciated!

Mine do it all the time. I just remove it, shake it out and put it back in again. Ours is a superking.

I do a duvet cover on its own. Sheets and pillowcases in a separate cycle.

Thanks! I've done the quilt cover separately once before actually and it was better, I'm just trying to be lazy Grin
I'll give it a shake halfway through!
I was hoping there was some magic laundry secret that I'm yet to learn.

I always fold it as if i am storing it in the cupboard and usually comes out machine still folded enough to be hung out without too much hassle

Is that in the dryer @rosemartha it's never balled up when I take it out the washing machine?
I'll give that a go next time!

oh i find all sorts in the cover knickers socks even shirts but like you say pillowcases are the worst

RoseMartha · 17/03/2019 20:46

@NChangeitup1 no I dont have one but have used one when nannying and folded them up and it was ok.

Brill, I'll give that a go definitely next time! Gave it a shake halfway through and it was fine! Obviously everything decided to get caught up in the bottom sheet this time just to prove me wrong but it had all dried luckily!

I ended up buying 2 giant net laundry bags as ours is superking and always gets tangled. So duvet in one bag, pillowcases and sheet in the other.

At the end of the cycle when it thinks the thing is dry (sensor dryer) I remove them from the bags, reinsert and dry again.

It drives me insane, so much so I am actually thinking of just hanging it up somehow in the utility and not tumbling it. Luckily I have more than one cover.
