Mattresses, Ikea?

Well I don't think my back can stand it much longer! It's taking me too much time to scrape myself out of bed in the mornings, & I scare DH with my wincing! The time has most definitely come, we need a new mattress!

I've heard decent things about the ikea ones and have thought about getting one from there, what's the verdict are they good? I prefer a medium firm, I need support! Meanwhile, it looks like the sofa for now!

Has anyone tried an ikea mattress topper? Do you think it’s worth trying a topper to try to make our Ikea mattress more bearable? They’re not much cheaper than the mattresses so maybe I’m just as well going for a new mattress?

Another update!!

After a rather quick discussion, DH admitted the mattress isn't that that great for him, it's too 'low', his neck aches! I must admit i am finding it a tad weird also, bearing in mind we've only slept on in for 3 nights! however, it does feel weird, whether its because its memory foam or just too thin or for whatever reason, it just doesn't feel right and i know you have to give mattresses time, but i think any amount of time isn't going to change this. So we've been back to Ikea today and went for our other first choice the Hyllestad (sp) medium firm. Kudos to ikea for their customer service, can't fault them at all.
