Anyone dyed a leather sofa?

I have a pale cream leather sofa that I love. It’s lovely and comfy and easily sits 4 people.
Sadly it’s lost some of its colour and the cat’s have scratched it quite badly.
I’ve done some research and I think I’m going to dye it a dark brown. Has anyone else done this? Any tips or recommendations. All advice gratefully received

I haven't but I suspect that it is a job for a professional.
I would put a throw over it.
