getting sticky sap off clothes

DS has been at Cub camp this weekend. Had a whale of a time. Has managed on an lengthy game, in the dark, in the forest, to get one sleeve of his fleece totally covered in sticky sap. It's one of those fluffy, teddy bear Joules style ones, not smooth cotton.

He didn't tell me about it as he was shoving everything in the machine, so it's already been through once with everything else on 40c. Still sticky and matted. Any idea how to remove it???

Tea tree oil.

I hate to say it, given how against them mumsnet is due to them being disposable- but wet wipes. DP chops our wood for the fire and uses them to clean the carpets, the axe handles, his hands... you get the idea!

Success :-)

Firstly tried sticking it in the freezer as recommended online. Didn't work. Well, it froze the sap but I couldn't scrape it off.

Then I dunked it in a basin of boiling water straight from the kettle in an aim to loosen the sap. Then straight into the machine on a 60c "intensive stains" wash. And it got it out!

Very pleased. It's DS's favourite jumper and we've saved it. Bloody nightmare though.
