Recommendations for alternative to Dyson stick vacuum - probably plug in

I can’t cope any more. I have a Dyson V8 which lasts about 5 minutes on full charge and my house is dirty. I love the fact that is so light weight but it is insufficient to keep my house clean. I need at least 30 mins of full charge cleaning at least every other day. Has anyone got a similar probably wired (plugged in) light weight stick vacuum they think is good which ideally also converts to a hand held. I have carpets upstairs and wooden floors downstairs is that makes any difference. Thank you.

I have the no.1 here www.mumsnet.com/reviews/vacuum-cleaners - I used to have the Blade 32V which I didn't like but the new Blade 2 Max is a world apart and we have 2 kids, dog that constantly sheds on our wood floors downstairs. Have carpets upstairs and it is really good on those. We have a townhouse and so cordless is great for us on all our stairs. Don't have a plug-in but my Henry was the best when I did have one, and if I went corded again, that would be the one for me. Have my daughter on car cleaning duty today to earn pocket money in the holidays - the VAX Blade 2 Max converts to a handheld and so she's going to use it with some attachments it came with . Our car is filthy with dog and rugby boot mess. It lasts 45-50 minutes but I expect she'll need to do the car in a couple of sessions as it really is a pig sty currently! I've never had a Dyson purely on the cost basis and so interesting to read your experience of it.

Thanks for this - does it have a normal and high function and if so does it actually pick anything up on a normal function (our Dyson picks practically nothing up if it is not on high power). So before I buy just to confirm it works on full power for 45 minutes? If so this would be miraculous!

I bought this one in December (and only paid £169.99 for it!)

Highly recommend it. Two settings, one for hard floor one for carpets. I find the light really useful on hard floors.

Yes it has a normal mode. Then I can switch on boost when I need it but normal mode is often enough for my hard floors with every now and then adding the motorised brushbar function. For my carpets I turn on the brushbar in standard mode and use boost as and when. Hipe that helps.
