how do you get biro off an oilcloth?

Does anyone know how to get biro off an oilcloth? DS 2 has drawn a wonderful swirly pattern all over my kitchen tablecloth and I have tried everything in the cupboard with no joy...

maybe some kind of solvent ? careful not to scratch the surface -I scuffed ours horribly trying to remove a curry stain with a scourer

Thanks. tried perfume and nail polish remover and not working - maybe need stronger solvent? Kitchen now smells interesting though..

lighter fuel ? don't know why I suggest that but I think I heard it somewhere - don't go near your table with a match after that and nail polish remover etc !!

Bizarrely hairspray works really well on some biros - ds biro'd in green all over new shorts and I found a tip on the web somewhere. It worked for me so might be worth a try if all else fails.
