Best hoover for dog hair??

I currently have an old meile cat and dog but it's really not doing a great job.... my sitting room carpet still has lots of dog hair in it...

Can you recommend a hoover that really does remove dog hair?

There's another thread about pet vacuum cleaners from a few days ago. I have a cat and long hair and I use a rubber broom before vacuuming.
