Are the expensive one's a lot better than the cheaper models? I'm not bothered about all the techy bits (not very good at that anyway!) Can you give me your recommendations please?

Does anyone have the 605?

I have an eufy, it was about £180 in the black Friday sale, sona cheaper one. Its brilliant on my hard floors, and good on the carpet. Like all the cheap ones it just goes around randomly, the main problem is picking up everything before it starts (it pushes the cat food bowl along rather than recognising it as an obstacle and going round it for example), but this is just a case of learning what I need to move. I don't know if it is any better than any other cheap brand but it was recommended to me by someone who had one and also loves it.

Thanks sleepingdragon - you've convinced me! :-)

Can they climb up onto rugs?

rosinavera · 16/02/2019 14:46

I think they can SleepDeprivedCabbageBrain, as long as they're not too deep pile but I suppose if not you can give them a helping hand? :-)

I've got Eufy too. I love him more than my children some days Grin. He is very random but if you put him in a room and shut the door and forget about him, when you come back it's all done. Great on hard floors, okay on carpet for just getting the top level fluff, you still need to get the proper hoover out every now and again but I wouldn't be without him now. I'd be curious to know how much better a roomba would be though.

TipseyTorvey · 16/02/2019 15:49

Oh and yes he goes up onto rugs!

ChoccyJules · 16/02/2019 15:51

Does he do stairs? (I think I know the answer to this Grin)

Hollie5 · 16/02/2019 15:51

Do they pick up fluffy dog and cat hairs?

Loyaultemelie · 16/02/2019 17:18

I have a Roomba 6 something that I got in the Black Friday sale and it's brilliant. Does wooden floors and carpet no problem (Dd1 has a furry rug)
It can be programmed by someone much more capable than me to come on at certain times etc but with a cat who turns it on so he can go for a ride and a remote control I really don't need to do much

PuzzlingPuzzle · 16/02/2019 17:26

We currently have 3:
Eufy - waiting to be returned as it’s terrible, apparently ours might have a problem but this is our second replacement so I think it’s just shit
Roomba 6 - excellent but pricey, should have bought this all along and not bothered with Eufy
A random Samsung one - this came free with our new kitchen appliances and it’s surprisingly good, the only criticism would be that the battery life isn’t great but we keep it on the smaller upper level of our apartment and it more than does the job

PuzzlingPuzzle · 16/02/2019 17:26

Oh and we have a long haired cat

rosinavera · 16/02/2019 18:33

I've ordered the Roomba 606 and it arrives tomorrow!!! :-)

Have you got it up and running rosinvera? That is so funny about your cat Loyaultemelie! Good to know they go onto rugs, I'm sorely tempted.

rosinavera · 17/02/2019 21:17

Hi SleepDeprived!

No, I ordered from John Lewis but then realised I could get it £30 cheaper and with a longer guarantee from My Robot Center.....so it's packaged to go back but I will update when I'm up and running. Excited!!! :-)
