I don't.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 11/02/2019 08:02

On a more serious note, I live in a flat so neither! In a traditional house it would be downstairs because that's where the washing machine is.

I rarely iron.

Does anyone iron upstairs?

Frouby · 11/02/2019 08:04

I iron upstairs and use my bed as a table to make piles of clothes for people to put away. And usually watch reruns of friends or come dine with me while I do it.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 11/02/2019 08:05

Downstairs Infront of the telly!

dementedpixie · 11/02/2019 08:05

Downstairs in the living room, on a Sunday, watching casualty. I only iron dh's work shirts and the kids schoolwear. Everything else just gets put away as it is.

MuffinMad · 11/02/2019 08:29

I have a part of our wardrobe specifically for hanging clothes that need ironing. Mainly cotton shirts and tops that look terrible if not ironed.
About once a month, I do it all, in the bedroom, with the tv on.

Hate ironing and only do what's essential, but try to make it as pleasant an experience as possible!

bellinisurge · 11/02/2019 08:43

In front of the TV on Sunday and only work shirts.
I used to iron in exchange for beer as a student Grin

Meet0nTheledge · 11/02/2019 08:47

In our bedroom watching telly. Nowhere to store the ironing board downstairs, clothes can be sorted into piles on our bed or hung straight in wardrobes.

VanillaSauce · 11/02/2019 10:49

In the bedroom cos the ironing board lives in the wardrobe.

Namechangre · 11/02/2019 10:54

Downstairs in the kitchen, we have a utility room next to kitchen so it's handy for getting things from the dryer.
I invested in a steam generator iron after dh dropped my old iron. It's life changing!
So much quicker and far better results.

I am sad and need to get a life, I realised this when I was ridiculously excited at trying my new iron for the first time. Grin

Downstairs in front of the tv

eastwestnorth · 11/02/2019 11:16

I keep the ironing board in the spare room (and just remove it when I have visitors staying) so I do the ironing there.
Have to have a good play on the radio to listen to while I iron.

BiddyPop · 11/02/2019 11:22

DH irons downstairs - usually in the playroom end of the kitchen, but sometimes in the sitting room if he wants to watch something that's not on the playroom tv (different channels).

I don't iron.

Ariela · 11/02/2019 12:26

Iron? What's that?!
Tumble drier for 5-10 minutes with a damp cloth, once hot and steamy, pull items out and hang to air, majority of creases will have dropped out.
So much quicker and easier.

dementedpixie · 11/02/2019 12:26

I don't own a tumble dryer

BillywigSting · 11/02/2019 12:29

In the kitchen about once a fortnight because the ironing board is shoved in between the fridge and the wall.

The only thing I iron is uniforms (and only if the creases don't come out in the dryer)

DerelictWreck · 11/02/2019 12:33

Upstairs as that's where the washing machine, hamper and wardrobes are! Be odd to take it downstairs to iron, only to bring it back up!

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 11/02/2019 12:33

Mines upstairs but I only iron for weddings and funerals so keep it out the way

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 11/02/2019 15:01

Downstairs in front of the telly. I can’t do it upstairs as no TVs upstairs....

Knittedfairies · 11/02/2019 16:08

Downstairs, in the kitchen, listening to the radio.

purplepigs · 11/02/2019 22:34

@DerelictWreck upstairs washing machine? Upstairs utility room?

OP posts:
TheJobNeverEnded · 11/02/2019 22:40

Completely makes sense to have an upstairs utility room, most of us take our clothes off upstairs, cart them down stairs to wash and then back upstairs to put away.

I have a tumble dryer and a hanging rail in my utility which is downstairs.

The only things that get ironed in this house are Dh's work shirts and trousers, and the children's uniform trousers.

Their shirts are removed from the tumble dryer immediately as it finishes and then put onto hangers. You can literally see a finger's width of the shirt either side of their tie. Ridiculous to iron them. School jumpers are on hangers to dry.

I occasionally iron something for me like a cardigan but that is it.

I iron downstairs because the ironing board is stashed in the pantry.

daipaned · 11/02/2019 22:41

Downstairs with something crappy but good on TV or in the kitchen with a play on the radio.
