Advice about soda stream?

Would like to buy a soda stream but know nothing about them- things like - can you recycle the gas bottles, do I want a cordless one, how long does the gas last etc, where to buy one - any thoughts?

It has no cord because it does not use electricity. Once you have a gas bottle, which usually comes with the machine, you can replace it with a full one at Argos or Robert Dyas. Make sure you order a replacement and take in the empty ones, extra full ones cost more. I just bought a second one for DD to have upstairs from Boots for £40. It came with one gas bottle and one water bottle. I think it was online only to Advantage card holders. We've had our first one for years, I cannot recommend it highly enough. I love fizzy water and do t mind tap water so it works for me. I'm also dead against bottled water.

I love my sodastream. I bought it last year direct from sodastream with a massive discount. I have the basic "spirit" model.
I use the fizzy water daily mixed with squash, juice or elderflower cordial.
You really need a spare water bottle (about £10) and a spare gas bottle. I thought Argos was the cheapest until I found a local hardware store sold them. You hand over the empty gas bottle for recycling when you buy a new one.

Thanks, that’s really helpful - elderflower and soda sounds lovely !

I used to buy plastic bottles of fizzy water, probably used 5 or 6 a week. It's made a big reduction in our plastic use. The sodastream makes the water much fizzier as well. Hic.
