Chrome fitting on toilet seat

Hi, why and how can I prevent this from happening and is there a way to clean it off now??

Is it antibacterial toilet wipes which have caused this?

It looks like tarnish. I don't think the antibacterial wipe would have caused it.

I know the pic doesn't show the colour but it looks orange dots rather than just a darker grey

Do you have men in your household? I blame stray drops of pee from men who can't aim properly
