Why?????

I don't get it. Fridges had wifi too, but dont need to look at them yet.

I am confused. I cant see any reason that would ever cause me to use it. Am i alone in this, or just completely missing the point?

Our tumble dryer does too.. apparently I can use an app to control it?! Don’t get the point as I’ve put the clothes in...... so I’d turn it on?!

I guess it's a smart appliance and you can control and monitor it through an app. It's the future!

SeaViewBliss · 22/01/2019 21:50

Isn’t it so you can control it remotely? Agree with Tiredeyes, why would you want to? Most have a timer setting anyway. So if you wanted it to finish as you got home, you could just set the timer.

Technology gawn mad!

CrazyOldBagLady · 22/01/2019 21:50

You might even be able to integrate it with Alexa if you have one.

My kettle has Wi-fi.

Just need to work out how to fill it remotely.

Works well if I’ve remembered to put water in it. Otherwise still have to go to the Kitchen to fill it up.

Was vaguely excited my new dryer had an app etc, thought it might be something useful like telling me it was finished. No, course not, you have to open the app on your phone, hold the phone nextto the precise bit on the machine then use the app to start the cycle. Why,just why would I do that when at that point my finger is right by the on button !

ForeignnessAlert · 23/01/2019 05:38

Mine too. I also don't understand it. I have to load it so I just turn it on then. I've no signal by my machine so immaterial. DH reckons it's so you can monitor electricity and water usage but I never even looked at the app so don't know.

My cat flap has wifi.

I can see where each cat is, when it went in or out, I can download all of that into a spreadsheet, I can remotely shut or open it. I am KING of the cat flap.

I am struggling to think what I'd gain out of having the same power over the washing machine tbh.

My washing machine has WiFi and it notifies me when a wash is complete. Which is a bit helpful I suppose? And maybe it can run diagnostics although haven't needed that yet.
