Bullet journal question from a novice

I’m just getting to grips with setting up a bullet journal. I’m not bothered about making it fancy-looking but rather it’s more of a way to keep all my lists in one place, so I want it to work for me practically.

I’ve done an index, future log and double page spread for January. All fine. I now want to make some other pages relating to work, craft projects etc. But I’m unsure where is best to put them. I’ll need a double page spread for February soon too so I’m wondering if I should start my other lists at the back of the book? Or do people have them interspersed with their “month” pages? This just seems a bit wrong to me!

I realise I can do as I please but I’m curious as to what others do and what layout seems to work best.

I just use the next available page. It feels weird at first, but if you use the index (and ‘threading’) it’s really quick to find whatever you need and it means it’s really flexible and you don’t have to guess how much space you’ll need for a particular topic.
The only exception is that if I run out of space for the index at the front, I continue it at the back of the book.

You can glue extra pages in... And pockets, check youtube.

I find it “wrong” too to intersperse the calendar spreads with other pages. So at the front I have my future and monthly logs and also weekly logs if and when I use them. Everything else I put at the back of the book. I index all the pages (front and back) but rarely look things up in the index.

At the back I have things like packing lists, passwords, birthdays, New Years resolutions etc.

I had to look up threading Medianoche. I really am just getting my head round it. You don't find that you're rifling through looking for the next part?

Chloechloe I'm glad it's not just me who feels weird about interspersing the calendar pages with other pages. I think I will put a few at the back and see how it goes.

Mummy2017 - I looked on Youtube but most of the things I found were about beautiful artwork or layout of particular pages rather than the layout of the whole thing. Perhaps my search terms weren't the best. I'll have another look.

That's why I bought a Filofax. Easy to shuffle things round.

Are your daily logs at the front or the back Chloechloe? Or do you just not use them?
I don’t find I do too much flicking, Veneer, but I do have a couple of ribbon markers that come in very handy.
I’ve been using the system for about 3 years and it’s been really helpful for me, partly because I have weird issues with diaries and tend to get in a bit of a pressure/guilt cycle and partly because I seem to have swapped my short term memory for another child. He’s lovely, but I now basically have to write down everything or it’s gone forever. At least now I can find where I’ve written things.

I don’t usually use daily logs medianoche, but I would put them at the front.

I have a Leuchtturm journal which has two page markers, so I usually have one in the monthly log and one in the weekly which gets to the most used pages quickly.
