Hi everyone
I just bought some brushed cotton sheets.
Does anyone have any tips on keeping them nice and soft?
Before you wash them for the first time, are you meant to soak them overnight in cold water to avoid shrinking?
Grateful for any tips.
Thank you!

I've never soaked them in cold water. I wash them at a low temperature (30 or 40) as washing them at a high temperature can shrink them. I also add 1/2 a cup of distilled white vinegar to each wash as that is supposed to stop the fabric going bobbly. It has worked so far.

I’ve had numerous sets of brushed cotton sheets/duvet sets over the years. They get washed at 60 (bed bugs survive to 55 degrees C) and then get slung in the tumble or over the aired. Soft and no disasters yet, but give me time- I’ve only been washing sheets for 35 years.

I love a bit of flannelette. Wash at 60, tumble dry, no problems that I've noticed.

They are a bugger to dry. I bought some brushed cotton sheets+ pillowcases from Tesco before Christmas and a duvet cover+pillowcases from Sainsbury (in the sale) much lighter weight but so cosy Grin

I washed at 40c , tumbledried a bit then put on the heated rail to dry.
