I used ecover floor cleaner and a flat mop.

PhoenixSongbird · 29/06/2007 14:46

You can buy special laminate floor cleaning stuff, even a special mop/sweeper thing, but they?re probably a waste of money. I hoover or sweep up the massive fluff balls that miraculously gather, but to clean it I mostly use baby wipes!

witchandchips · 29/06/2007 14:47

or toddler on end of stick

bookthief · 29/06/2007 14:48

Hoover up as much fluff as possible, spray & wipe with Mr Sheen floor cleaner stuff and get pissed off at the amount of cat hair that's still on the floor no matter how thorough you are.

nailpolish · 29/06/2007 14:52

i dont want to use special cleaner s that cost the earth and are full of chemicals, to be honest with you

isnt soapy water good enough

meandmyflyingmachine · 29/06/2007 14:54

I think it depends on the soap. Some can make it look a bit smeary I think. But if yours doesn't, then I'd just carry on. I suspect the floor cleaner I used was indeed just that.

bookthief · 29/06/2007 14:55

Actually, I used to just use plain hot water. I just like that the Mr Sheen stuff's in a spray. I keep diluting it with water so it's probably about 50/50 now.

ahundredtimes · 29/06/2007 14:55

While we're talking about flooring, I've just got RUBBER flooring is soooo cool and good. But have NO IDEA how to clean it either.

Sixer · 29/06/2007 14:56

wet wipes.

meandmyflyingmachine · 29/06/2007 14:56

Apparently you can use just those microfibre cloths. When I'm feeling very saintly, I use a cloth and lemon juice to clean my floors.

nailpolish · 29/06/2007 15:00

i think the soap i use is making it 'squeaky'

i might buy some stuff and dilute it down, thats a good idea ta

or i might try lemon juice and hot water

I used soap and water on mine inmylast flat. Just 1 teaspoon of fairy in a bucket of very hot water, and added a teacup of vinegar...according to my mum the vinegar stops any streaking - certainly it worked for me....

But I am mrs Vinegar.... got so excited last night after discovering that my mothers latest vinegar tip of using hot vinegar to clean paint and glue off new windows really worked....

What can I say - life is so exciting....

nailpolish · 29/06/2007 15:01

i hate that damn laminate

Oh yes is soooo lovely. In bathrooms. Bright pink and turquoise with standy uppy rivets in. Been down three days, I go and lie down in there and stroke it.

nailpolish · 29/06/2007 15:02

TELL ME WHRE YOU GOT IT DAMMIT!

OP posts:
hecciesmum · 29/06/2007 15:03

hmmm - might just do that np!

LIZS · 29/06/2007 15:05

Water spray bottle and flat Vileda mop did ours in old apartment (you can add a small drop of wood floor clener but to use more concentrated just makes it more slippery). Just bought the Mr Sheen spray for our solid wood floor and not convinced tbh. Looked at the label for ecover and it didn't sound recoemmended for wood. Might revert to plan A as it was mroe effective. Always mop/wipe along the "grain"

nailpolish · 29/06/2007 15:06

it doesnt matter that the ecover isnt recommedned for wood tho cos it aint wood

its shitey laminate
