window cleaning, how often?

am debating on paying a window cleaner £3.50 or doing it myself.

am going to do it myself today as long as its not raining, as no kids here and can leave front door open to hear dh, but usually its not an option.

so if i pay a window cleaner, how often should he come round to do the windows?

Mine promised faithfully to come every 4 weeks. It is more like evey 6 weeks. £3.50 bite his frigging hand off.

£12 a time down here.

reduced rate for us on warden scheme.

and i know the family, so he is trust worthy ,not saying window cleaners arent, but its soemthing i worry about living in an OAP area.

Think it might depend on how big your house is to be fair but mine charges £8 , he's a PITA and only comes when he feels like it I think, twice in last 3-4 months - send yours round here when he's done will you!?

Clary · 29/06/2007 12:37

Mine comes once a month and charges £10.

Bit crap tho because last time it took him about 5 mins (I was here - am not always) and he just sort of washed-ish them

Not impressed

mine come every 4weeks and £10 a go, so i'd be up for £3.50...such a shitty job to do...and, you still have to do the insides yourself anyway

Wisteria · 29/06/2007 12:38

Tis not a bad hourly rate is it?

chopchopbusybusy · 29/06/2007 12:38

Mine does most of the street when he is here once a month.(£8) Some of my neighbours do ask him to come every other month. Depends where you are really. We don't have much pollution from traffic etc. here so the windows don't really seem to get very dirty.

£12 here, monthly, 4 beds, 2 recept house + odd few extra windows

takes 'em 15 minutes (2 of them) and they don't even use hot water

grrrr

In my next life I'm coming back as a "visual technician", it's money for old rope!

Ours does his round every 4wks but gives you the option of not getting them done every time. At the moment we have ours done every 8 wks.

He charges £10 which I don't think is too bad as the house is built into a hill so is 2.5 storeys on one side and access is difficult.

He uses a ladder too not those silly long reaching brushes/squeedgies (hes not one of those H&S spouting ones who say "can't use a ladder, too dangerous...")
