Hi all

Hoping to start organising my cupboards etc properly again and replacing old with new.

I want to fill a few baskets up in a cupboard with things you take for granted that you have.

What essential items should every house have - not necessarily everyday things but I'm thinking along the lines of sellotape, elastic bands etc

Plasters, batteries, envelopes, tealight candles, painkillers, spare lightbulbs, tape measure

Zombiemama · 06/01/2019 15:15

Thanks Frosty - I never have enough batteries

Envelopes. We have a big cookie jar I keep filled with aa and aaa batteries.

Loo roll. Deodorant.

Zip lock bags

We have a stack of plain cards and stickers to make a birthday card or whatever instantly but depends on how old your kids are.

Bag of spare gifts - hard work that one!

Queenofthedrivensnow · 06/01/2019 15:19

Parcel tape is another one

Queenofthedrivensnow · 06/01/2019 15:22

Some kind of basic sewing kit - needles and thread in different colours and safety pins

Littlelambpeep · 06/01/2019 15:26

I'm doing similar. I have a birthday box (have generic cards, candles napkins and a singing cake server thing we love, balloons and all that)

Then I have a tool box with hot glue gun stapler, pins, velcro, screwdriver etc

Then a stationary one. Envelopes and parcel tape. Brown paper etc.

Don't know how long this organisation will last but hoping it will stop repeat buys and expensive last minute card dashes.

@Littlelambpeep if you live near the range or hobbycraft or similar it works brilliantly. The strips of stickers are enough for more than one new baby boy card or whatever and the dc really enjoy the creativity. I just have a box full of the cards, stickers etc and felt pens and they crack on. The strips of jewel type stickers work really well too

This is brilliant thank you :)

I'm all over these seperate boxes for tools, stationary etc I love the new year for starting to organise again

Why have I never thought of a birthday box?

Zombiemama · 06/01/2019 17:16

I have a half assed attempt at a birthday box although it's from cards we have bought and forgot to write/give and some salvaged gift bags. I need to up my game and buy generic cards and some gift wrap too

I need to use all these ideas once I pluck up
the courage to tackle the cupboards of crap!
