Peeling Leather sofa

Any ideas about what I can do about the leather peeling on the arms/edge of cushions? Is it possible to repair or recover? I’ve got a 7 year old Furniture Village suite (Dante). It’s still wonderfully comfortable, but the peeling is not a good look. Having checked the website, the covers are only guaranteed for two years.

I'd direct your query to them and see what they say.

I had that happen on a new sofa from scs and they sent a technician out with leather paint. That wasn’t acceptable to me and I sent it back but for a 7 year old sofa it would maybe work. It is worth asking the place you bought it from if someone could look at it or maybe a local upholsterer could do it for you.

I had this with a leather sofa, ended up getting rid of it because an upholsterer said there was nothing they can do

Thank you for your comments. It doesn’t look very hopeful, does it? I will follow up with Furniture Village though and see what they say.

Work in the trade.

You can't repair leather, it's worn through.

You may be able to find a leather match and get an upholsterer to replace the arms and cushions but it depends on the design of the sofa and how easy it would be to strip down .... and it may be impossible if there is any visible stitching in the leather.

It's probably more cost effective to buy new.
