How to stop my hoover smelling of dog

As above - I have a dog with very thick long fur who sheds a lot and every time I hoover it just stinks of dog 🤢 I have a cordless dyson, is there anything I can put in it to stop it from releasing bad smells?

Hoover up a pile of bicarbonate of soda- we’ve got hairy dogs and it works wonders.

Put a cotton wool ball dipped in zoflora in the dust bit.

Clean the filters regularly and put a cap full of lenor unstoppables in

@filledsoda would fabric conditioner work? I don't have any zoflora

Wouldn't hurt , just a sprinkle though or it will make the inside of the vacuum greasy.
Don't suppose you have any essential oils ?

I know that Miele make a HEPA/charcoal/anti odour filters for their vacuums. Perhaps Dyson make similar for your model.

You can buy little air freshener things to put in the hoover bag.

Amazon has loads of them. www.amazon.co.uk/slp/vacuum-freshener/a8bnk7bdjzvs5ym?tag=mumsnetforum-21 but an alternative is to put a few drops of aromatherapy oil on a piece of kitchen roll and put that in the hoover bag.

Clean the filter regularly, I discovered that there is more than 1 filter on a Dyson, when I found the second one took it out and washed it in hot soapy water then rinsed it in water with fabric conditioner it made a big difference to the smell. I have 2 boxers so I understand about the smell.

Unstoppable ( or other brand laundry beads) is the best, smells like fresh washing everytime I hoover and the dog smell is gone 😁

Do you put the unstoppables in the drum that collects the dirt? I have a dyson animal cordless bagless vacuum!

@Unsurewhattodo79 I'd hoover, empty the cylinder then hoover up a few unstoppables, it will smell much fresher next time you hoover. Don t use too many though as it could get expensive!
