Sheets for a shallow mattress

My mattress is quite shallow, 19-20cm deep, and I'm having difficulty finding decent sheets for it. Shallow sheets tend to be cheap makes, thin and rough, and pull off the mattress during the night because they are cut so skimpily. Premium sheets are lovely, soft and hardwearing, but are always very deep-sided, so they wrinkle up because they sit loosely on the mattress.

Does anyone have, or know of, nice cotton sheets that fit a shallow king-size mattress tautly?

I assume you're trying to use 'fitted' sheets... maybe it would be worth trying a flat sheet, taking care about the tucking in? We only had flat sheets when I was a kid and they stayed put fine, just takes a little more time and effort when you first make the bed.

Yes, we also had flat sheets (and my auntie was a nurse, so we learned how to make perfect corners Grin).

Worth a try.

What about these?

They will let you use your current good quality sheets until you find something in the suitable size.

Genius idea! At the very least, it will keep my mattress protector from travelling.

Loving that before and after pic: using these clips will turn your broken-slatted student dump into an elegant French boudoir Grin

Those bed braces are fantastic! I got a slightly different set, with 6 pairs rather than 4, and attached it to my mattress protector. Although the sheet is still loose and rumpled, the mattress protector now sits smooth and taut, and the bed is much more comfortable.

Thanks!

Good - glad they worked. Could you use another set to hold the sheet in place or does that involve too much faffing around or cause the mattress to be lumpy?
